Parent and Child Woodworking is great fun and a really sweet way for Mum/Dad (or both) and nipper to spend a day together. And the way it works right now is a little more along the Bespoke Woodworking lines.
So after getting in touch over the phone, our first chat about your little smasher will have pretty much made most of our decisions for us right there.
Next step, based on our chat, is to go and see what the heir to your empire would like to make. The best and most common ideas are something for their room or a present for someone close. Once you’ve got the theme sorted, I suggest raiding things like Pintrest and the likes, that way you can get your own design specifics down without the pressure of everyone staring at a blank sheet of paper for ages.
Then it’s back in touch with me (if you’re local then this is a great time to swing by together for a look around) and we’ll work out a time/price plan for the job and get cracking from there.
Some little bits that may be useful . . .
Pricing? Typically you will have me and the workshop to yourselves for the day. But what I do (cause I’m super nice) is only charge for one full adult for the day. So if Mum, Dad and two siblings want to get involved in the build there will only be one charge for one adult per day plus your materials.
Twelve years old and above please. And do not get offended if I ask you to prove this, my insurance company are not known for their sense of humour.
What if the child in question wants to do the course alone or if neither parent has any interest in woodwork? Well at present that’s ok provided the adult who is responsible for the child stays with us at the workshop. You can grab a comfy chair and read a book, bring your laptop in and hop on a spare bench to crack on with your work – whatever you like. It’s very annoying I know, but to be in charge of your youngsters without you there takes me up several rungs on the insurance ladder and at present there is not the consistent work for me to make that leap. However, should that change then I will set about specific ‘courses for kids’ where you can leave them for the duration.
If you like you can pick one of the current courses on offer and do one of those if you’d prefer.
If two families come in at the same time then there will be a price increase.
I can be very flexible with timings, so if we work together to get a plan in place things like weekends and evenings can always work.
For anything else, enquiries, questions or whatever – just get in touch right away.
